My Life…
I raced my first triathlon in 2008 and I can’t even begin to imagine when I’ll race my last. I live by the beach in Encinitas, CA with my husband James (www.jameswalshracing.com). As a team, we have shared countless adventures both in and out of sport. In 2011, we competed together in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. After a successful 2011 amateur season in triathlon, I’ve decided to make the leap to compete professionally. I also work almost full time as a school psychologist in a public elementary school. When I’m not working or training, I’m unpacking and re-packing my bags for the next days workout-work-workout, etcetera. My life if busy and full of things I love. I couldn’t ask for more. Well, maybe a bit more sleep. Follow my adventures on my blog, “California training”.
Things you should know about me…
- I work every day with kids, which means I don’t need any of my own (yet). As a school psychologist, I analyze others so that I can stay busy enough to lack time to analyze myself.
- My husband believes that without him, my life would become some crazy junkyard vortex and I’d eat cereal for dinner every night. He’s probably right.
- In 2011, I won 3 overall amateur champion titles at Ironman Texas, California 70.3, and Timberman 70.3. Ok, this one’s not witty, but I need to tell you how awesome I am in case you want to send me a million dollars so I can become the next Chrissie Wellington.
- I will never run a stand-alone marathon (for time) again. I ran the Rock ‘N Roll Las Vegas 2010 marathon and was 3rd female overall with a time of 2:59. Quit while you’re ahead.
- I will wear Zoot compression tights anywhere you’ll let me.
- I ran 3:10 off the bike the Ironman World Championships in 2010. I will hold on to that one like a fat 37-year old man holds onto winning his high school football conference championships 20 years ago. Until I beat it, of course.
- I like to look good and go fast. Preferably at the same time, but it’s kind of like an eclipse….only happens a couple times a year. When it does, be sure to take lots of photos.
- I have been racing triathlons since 2008. You really do not want to know what I did before that. Especially in college. Oh, well, maybe the first few years after college as well…
